Nous Terms

Nous is a Mac app in closed beta, by invitation. Using it with your invite is free; Nous Pro is an optional paid subscription. These terms are short on purpose. Using Nous means you accept them. You must be 18 or over to use Nous.

The beta is provided as-is

Nous is unfinished software. It may break, lose work, change without warning, or be unavailable. We give no warranty of any kind and we are not liable for what the beta costs you. We may change features, limits or models, pause your access, or end the beta at any time.

Keep your own copies of anything you care about: Settings › Data & privacy › Export everything writes your conversations, notes, memories and goals out as Markdown.

Your invite is yours

Your invite code identifies you and carries the included usage allowance. Do not share or resell it. We may retire a code that is shared or used to run up usage.

Nous Pro subscription

Price and renewal. Nous Pro costs US$15.99 a month or US$159.99 a year, plus any tax that applies. It renews automatically at the end of each billing period and is charged to the payment method you chose, through our payment processor, until you cancel.

Cancelling. You can cancel at any time from Settings › Usage & billing › Manage. Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep Pro until the end of the period you have already paid for, and you are not charged again.

Refunds. You can request a refund from Settings › Usage & billing › Refund, or by email. Requests are reviewed by a person, case by case, and are not guaranteed. Submitting a request does not issue a refund or cancel your subscription.

Conversation allowance. Pro includes a conversation allowance for each billing month — on the yearly plan too, it starts over every month. Unused allowance does not carry over. When it is used up, conversations pause until your next billing month begins.

Price changes. If we change the price, we will tell you at least 30 days before it applies. The new price takes effect from your next billing period after that notice, and you can cancel before then.

Acceptable use

Do not use Nous to break the law, to harm or harass people, to generate sexual content involving minors, to attack our service or the providers behind it, or to resell access to the models it reaches. Do not try to extract our server credentials. The model providers' own usage policies apply to anything you send through them.

AI output can be wrong

Nous writes with AI models. It can be mistaken, and it can be mistaken confidently — about facts, about dates, and about what you said earlier. Check anything that matters before you act on it. Nous is not medical, legal, financial or other professional advice, and it is not a crisis service.

Your content is yours

Your conversations, notes and memory belong to you, and they live on your Mac. We claim no ownership of them. Nous's server does not keep them and we do not use them to train models. To get a reply, your message passes through the AI service providers described in the privacy policy, under their terms.

You are responsible for having the right to put something into Nous — including anything a connector reads on your behalf.

Accounts

Keep your sign-in details to yourself; one account is for one person. You can delete your account at any time from Settings › Profile › Delete account. We may suspend an account that breaks these terms.

Changes to these terms

We may update this page while the beta runs. The date at the top is the last change; continuing to use Nous after a change means you accept it.
